The Art Direction Project was a joined project between the Master and Bachelor students. The students were asked to choose their preferred roles in a traditional game development structure, and were divided according to these roles, so as to create a team consisting of Art Director, Lead Artist, 3D Artist, Sketch Artists and Technical Artists
The projects were based on Italo Calvino’s Invisible Cities. The teams were asked to create an original interpretation of one of the cities described within the written work in a two-week development cycle. After a week, a design constraint was imposed upon the project by the professors, in order to simulate what it would be like to work for an external client. The students were allowed to use whatever programs they wanted, as long as the final project was created using the Unity Engine. After the first development cycle, new teams were formed for a second cycle with similar constraints.
